Free legal citation formatter

Paste a citation or a passage to tidy supported legal citations. This free tool runs in your browser, with no sign-up; your pasted text is never uploaded.

Up to 20,000 characters. Formatting does not verify that an authority exists or supports your argument.

    Scope and limits

Supports U.S. federal and state case citations with recognized reporter abbreviations, Florida Statutes, U.S.C. and C.F.R. citations, and these Florida court rules: Fla. R. Civ. P., Fla. R. Crim. P., Fla. Fam. L. R. P., Fla. R. App. P., Fla. R. Jud. Admin., Fla. Prob. R., and Fla. Sm. Cl. R. It also recognizes Fla. R. Juv. P. and Fla. R. Gen. Prac. & Jud. Admin.

This is not a Bluebook replacement. It standardizes common forms and preserves supplied page references and years; it does not check case names, court-specific requirements, whether a citation is correct, or whether the law is current. Unrecognized text and unsupported section ranges stay unchanged. Review every result.

    Frequently asked questions

    Is this free?

Yes. No account or sign-up is required.

    Is my text uploaded?

No. Formatting happens entirely in your browser. We count page views and format or copy actions, never the text you paste or copy.

Does this check whether a case is real?

No. Formatting cleans up a citation's presentation. It does not verify the authority or its meaning. Check them against our library with the free citation checker.

Can I paste a whole passage?

Yes, up to 20,000 characters. Each supported citation appears in a separate result with a copy button.
