Free PDF redaction tool — runs in your browser
Hide selected areas of a PDF for free. Files never leave your device. The output is a flattened image PDF: text cannot be copied or searched afterwards. That is the point.
Up to 50 MB and 200 pages. Encrypted PDFs are not supported. Draw boxes over everything you want hidden. This tool does not find text for you.
Drag to add a box. Drag inside a box to move it. Select a box and press Delete, or use its Delete button below. Arrow keys move a selected box. Touch works too. Boxes remove only what you mark; review every page.
What this tool guarantees
Before a download becomes available, the rebuilt output must pass all five checks:
- No text can be extracted from any output page.
- No annotations, links, forms, attachments, embedded files, document scripts, or bookmarks remain.
- Original document metadata is removed. Only the producer name “Jurisio redaction” remains.
- Every marked box is painted opaque black and checked on the actual output at a grid of points and its inner corners.
- Output page sizes and boxes match the visible page, including rotated pages and cropped margins.
Every page becomes one opaque, lossless image. The target is 200 DPI; unusually large pages use a lower resolution to limit memory, with a visible notice. Very large outputs may be refused. You preview the exact output PDF page by page.
Frequently asked questions
Are files uploaded?
No. All PDF processing happens in your browser. Usage events contain only the tool, action, and a page-count range, never file names or document contents.
Does this automatically find private information?
No. Draw boxes over everything you want hidden, including on scans. Anything outside your boxes remains visible in the output image.
Can someone remove the black boxes to recover text?
The tool rebuilds the PDF from painted images. It does not simply place rectangles over the original text. Check your boxes carefully: visible information outside them remains readable.
Why can I no longer search the PDF?
Removing every text layer prevents hidden text from surviving. The entire output is an image PDF.
